This is ... an abrupt end to what had been shaping up to be a very good afternoon. The loss is disappointing, but it's Toby getting up and shutting him out that trips the recognition that something actually is wrong here. Drawing in a breath and letting it out again in a sigh, Dorian sits up on the bed, and watches Toby start to get up, frowning.
"You like her, don't you?" He's seen the way the pair interact together. It may not be a match made in Heaven, but they do at least seem to be friendly. Is there something he missed here that's provoking this kind of reaction? Some argument that he doesn't know about? "Did something happen between you? Is that why you're leaving?" And slinking off to sulk. Dorian knows this mood in his soulmate, and it seems to end, more often than not, in a few days of hangovers and incapacitated vampire.
